The film is set twenty years after the events of November 9th, 1989, the fall of the Berlin Wall. Circus clown Jonathan (Godehard Giese) loses his job. He meets Olga (Agnieszka Rozenbajgier), a Polish prostitute on the run from her pimps. They spend the night together in a hotel room and recapitulate twenty years of European unity. After a confrontation with the pimps, Olga and Jonathan learn to know the dark side of ‘new Europe’.
